DELOS Brainstorming Workshops This series of workshops is intended to bring together top researchers from all the parts of the world, with the objective of defining "future research direction" reports in the field of Digital Libraries and to provide input for the definition of future research programmes in the domain of Digital Libraries both for the EC and national research funding agencies. 1st DELOS Brainstorming Workshop on Digital Libraries 2nd DELOS Brainstorming Workshop on Digital Libraries Main Research Themes for a European Research Programme 6-7 December 2002 - Pisa (Italy) The final report of the first brainstorming meeting (Digital Libraries: Future Directions for a European Research Programme) provided a high level framework for future research in Digital Libraries. Also in view of the forthcoming Call for Proposals under FP6, it was decided to hold a second brainstorming meeting to define more detailed research agendas in the identified major research topics. The meeting started with each participant presenting the main research activities relevant to Digital Libraries presently going on at their own institutions, and then presenting a proposal for a research line, possibly falling into one of the major topics identified in San Cassiano. The coordinators were responsible to identify additional research groups in their research topic and had the task of defining a detailed research agenda, which should have coordinated the activities of all the groups in their topic.
