Austrian National Library (http://www.onb.ac.at) Digital Preservation Department Dr. Max Kaiser
With a history dating back to the 14th century, the Austrian National Library, its ten special collections and three museums contain a significant part of the world's cultural heritage. The OENB has a long tradition in the preservation of information and its obligations also comprise preserving and making accessible large quantities of digital objects being deposited at the library in various formats. The current activities of the Digital Preservation Department of the library include research in the field of digital preservation workflows, file format validation and digital repository design. As the main scientific library in Austria the OENB acts as a research centre and has been involved in numerous national and international digital library initiatives. Recent national projects include AOLA (Austrian On-Line Archive), LBSCult (Location Based Services for Cultural Organisations), ANNO (Austrian Newspapers Online), and bildarchiv:austria. The OENB has been a partner in several projects funded by the European Commission in the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Framework as well as in the eContent Programme, among those MALVINE, REGNET, LEAF, TNT, reUSE, and BRICKS. |
